Parents Teacher Collaboration

Parents

Taqwa International School gives more than the usual importance to collaboration between the school and the parents of our students. In fact, the school takes an undertaking during the registration process that the participation of parents is fundamental to the successful education of the students.

Parents are requested to support the development of their children through the following:

  • Provide a healthy environment at home.
  • Support the student in following the rules and regulations of the school.
  • Participate in the parent-teacher sessions.
  • Provide continuous feedback on the student.
  • Facilitate “home work” activities.
  • Provide ideas for improving the school activities.

Parent-Teacher communication

If you wish to speak to your child’s teacher(s), you may contact any teacher during the school hours or get in touch with the class teacher during designated hours after school. The information about the latter option is shared with the parents separately via a notice. We encourage parents to contact the teacher during school hours. It would be easy to imagine the bad situation of a teacher who would have to receive several calls each evening at home. Our school does not wish to burden the teachers beyond their call of duty.  We think this policy is good both for their privacy and healthy lifestyle. It will be in order to remember that the teachers have their own families to take care of.  Taking a break from the school after work hours allows teachers much needed rest and helps them to be refreshed the next morning. Many teachers use their evening for their readings and research- an activity that is vital to their intellectual advancement. Only mothers of our students may contact female teachers.

The following procedure applies when contacting a teacher during school hours:

1.      Parent makes a call to the school to speak with a teacher.

2.      An administrative staff receives the call and records the following information before completing the call:

a.      name and contact number of the parent

b.      name, grade and section of the student

c.      name of the teacher who the parent wishes to speak to.

3.      The request is sent to the pertinent teacher.

4.      The teacher will return the call to the parent on the same day or the next working day. The teacher will dial the parent’s phone number up to three times. In the case the parent is still not reachable; the teacher will not make any further attempt to contact the parent. In such a case, the parent has to start all over again.

The following escalation process is available:

1.      If the teacher does not call back with the specified duration, the parent can escalate the matter to the Vice-Principal (VP).

2.      If the VP is not accessible or if the VP did not return the call with in two days of the escalation, the parent can contact the Principal.

3.      If the Principal is not accessible or if the Principal did not return the call with in a day of escalation, you may send an email to the Management Committee’s attention at info@taqwaschool.org.

Parent-Teacher meetings

Parents will be required to attend parent-teacher meetings. The school will notify parents in advance about upcoming meetings.
